About us
We explain the economy so you don't have to decode it
Rainybridgez is an independent economics news outlet based in Chiang Mai, Thailand, publishing in plain English since 2021.
What Rainybridgez is, and why it exists
Rainybridgez launched in 2021 out of a simple frustration: economic journalism in English was either too technical for general readers or too shallow to be genuinely useful. Our small editorial team — based in Chiang Mai's creative quarter along Nimmanhaemin Road — set out to close that gap. We cover five core beats: macro-economy, business, labor market, government policy, and household budgets. Every story we publish starts from a real question a reader might ask — “Why did my grocery bill jump again?” or “What does a rate hold actually mean for my mortgage?” — and works outward to the economic forces that answer it. The teal-modern design of our site reflects that clarity-first philosophy: clean, readable, and free of visual noise that distracts from the reporting. Since launch we have published over 140 original pieces and grown a consistent readership of curious, non-specialist adults across Thailand and the wider English-reading diaspora following Southeast Asian economic news.
How we work, and where we draw the line
Our editorial process starts with data. We pull from publicly available sources — the National Economic and Social Development Council, the Bank of Thailand, the National Statistical Office, and comparable regional bodies — and we cite our sources directly in every piece. We do not accept sponsored editorial, and we do not offer investment advice, price predictions, or trading signals of any kind. Our job is to report and explain, not to tell you what to do with your money. We also can't promise that every economic outcome we describe will unfold exactly as the data suggests — macro-economics involves real uncertainty, and our coverage reflects that honestly. We work best for readers who want context and analysis; if you're looking for financial planning guidance, a licensed advisor is the right resource. Our team currently numbers three full-time journalists and two regular contributors, all with backgrounds in economics, public policy, or financial journalism. We are proud to be independent, editorially self-funded, and headquartered in one of Thailand's most dynamic mid-sized cities.
